Amy Turnbull is an artist who lives and works in Colchester. In 2011, she graduated with a BA (hons) in Fine Art from the Colchester School of Art. Following graduation, she received the Cuckoo Farm Studios Graduate Award which included a solo exhibition at The Minories Galleries, Colchester. She has been a recipient of the Firstsite Collectors Group Bursary and the Essex Network of Artist’s Studios travel bursary. She exhibits in group shows in London and the South East.
She is heavily involved in the local and regional arts scene, she worked at the Firstsite Gallery for 5 years undertaking a range of different roles including artist development. She also had a studio at Cuckoo Farm for 10 years (2011 – 2021) and during her tenancy was on the committee and was the Chair Person for 3 years.
She is one half of Stitch & Bitch Colchester which has been running since 2011 and one of the founders of Drink & Draw Colchester which has been meeting since 2015.
She uses her vast experience from working in the arts to support the VBLF where she can. She has always adored The Minories Galleries and can’t wait to see how it develops in its new incarnation.
Her favourite works in the collection are by Richard Perry Bedford, Nigel Henderson, Michael Ayerton, Blair Hughes-Stanton and Ann Mell.
